This year’s Gärsnäs stand designed by David Regestam
Interior architect David Regestam showcases the origin and identity of Gärsnäs with inspiration from his trips back and forth to the factory in Österlen. The stand’s back wall is plastered white, alluding to the white facades of the farmyards in the open countryside. This year’s new designs are assembled on a central catwalk, Bolon’s ivory-coloured rug Artisan Ivory leads up to the plastered wall. The new designs are also presented in spatial podiums using the same eyelet embroidery as the Gärsnäs classic Pia lamp, which also creates a natural backdrop for taking pictures.
By letting materials speak for themselves through surface, materiality and structure, without highlighting any specific colours, David Regestam successfully conveys the refined character of Gärsnäs. Colours that do make an appearance are black, white and grey with complementary accents of red and dull blue. The only pure decor element comes from the poppies, as a reminder of Österlen’s billowing fields.
At Gärsnäs, the interaction between craftsmanship, industry and designers pushes the limits of what is possible.
